Easy Way to Learn English Verb Tenses / HE WILL TALK. (FUTURE)
Do you know when you can use "will" in an English sentence?
TIME: FUTURE
Let's first adjust our time zone into 'the future' so that we can begin our verb tense, which includes 'will'.
When the time changes in an English sentence, it always influences verbs. Among five verb forms, we use V1 in the future tense with 'will'. Look at the five forms of the verb 'talk' below.
V1: talk
V2: talked
V3: talked [V2 is talked with the ending, 'ed', so V3 is the same.]
V4: talking
V5: talks
We need V1 (talk) in our sentence expressing the future with 'will'.
If you need a be verb in a sentence with 'will', you will also choose V1 (be) among the five form groups:
V1: be
V2: was, were
V3: been
V4: being
V5: am, is, are
After discussing the change of verbs, we should also check the relationship between subjects and verbs because sometimes verb change is different following different subjects.
As mentioned in previous lessons, in a complete English sentence we need at least a subject, someone or something, and a verb, showing an action or a state. When 'will' is used in a sentence, all the subjects come with the same verb form, will + V1. For example,
He will talk.
She will talk.
It will talk.
We will talk.
You will talk. ['You' can mean one person or more than one.]
They will talk.
When we discuss something in the future, we can generally use this pattern, 'will + V1'. In the following different situations will be presented before each example sentence to help everyone understand what the right situation is for this pattern.
Situation: I am viewing an apartment but I am worried about the noise from the busy street. The property agent promises me a peaceful life in the future.
Example: Double glazing will deaden the noise. (will+V1:deaden)
⇒[Subject: double glazing] + [Verb... : will deaden the noise]
When someone suddenly decides to do something in the near future without much thinking or planning, 'will+V1' is the right pattern.
Situation: Mary's little son is in a bath, playing with his toys.
Example: I will soap your back in a minute. (will+V1:soap)
⇒[Subject: I] + [Verb... : will soap your back in a minute]
When we guess or believe something will happen without much evidence, we use 'will+V1' to express it.
Situation: Peter is nominated for the 'Best Actor' award so everyone is betting.
Example: Peter will bring his new girlfriend. (will+V1:bring)
⇒[Subject: Peter] + [Verb... : will bring his new girlfriend]
When you insist on something, you should say 'I will ....' in a firm tone.
Situation: Linda is angry to find that her son is bullied by another boy at school.

Situation: I am listening to the weather forecast on the radio.
Example: Tomorrow will be rainy. (will+V1:be)
⇒[Subject: tomorrow] + [Verb... : will be rainy]
On formal occasions, 'will+V1' is used to express future plans either in the writing or in the speaking.
